About this Event
The event will serve as a companion to the Department’s annual health insurance hearing and will bring together policymakers, insurers, providers, and the public for an in-depth discussion of the trends driving healthcare costs and premiums.
The forum will feature the release of New Hampshire’s Total Statewide Healthcare Spending Report, including total healthcare expenditures for 2023 and 2024. Spending will be reported in the aggregate and by line of business (public vs. private payer), as well as on a per capita basis and by healthcare service category.
The presentation will also include metrics on total medical expenditures and the net cost of health insurance across commercial insurance, Medicare, and New Hampshire Medicaid. Attendees will also receive an updated New Hampshire Healthcare Dollar for 2023 and 2024, illustrating how every healthcare dollar is spent within the state’s healthcare system.
In addition, New Hampshire’s major medical insurers will offer commentary on recent healthcare claims trends and what those developments may signal for future health insurance premiums in the coming year.
Following these presentations, Insurance Commissioner D.J. Bettencourt will deliver a healthcare policy address focused on improving health insurance affordability, including practical policy ideas, cost-containment strategies within New Hampshire’s healthcare system, and updates on the state’s leadership in healthcare cost transparency.
The forum is designed to provide Granite Staters with a clearer understanding of where healthcare dollars are going, what factors are influencing future premiums, and what policy solutions may help keep coverage more affordable in the years ahead. New Hampshire citizens, healthcare providers, insurers, and legislators are welcome and encouraged to attend.
