An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen explores what happens when an individual's scientific discovery conflicts with a collective's economic interests. When Dr. Stockmann discovers a significant health risk to the people of their beloved town, they become determined to spur their fellow citizens to take immediate action. But the unexpected resistance Stockmann meets from the townsfolk, including close friends and family, throws both the town's future and the doctor's community standing into peril.Directed by James Gelter, this production marks a significant milestone for NEYT, as it is the first time they will stage a performance in the round, utilizing the intimate new black box theater space to create a dynamic and immersive experience for the audience. The innovative design will allow for a fresh perspective on Ibsen’s classic work, adding to its emotional intensity and visual impact.
