Newton Baroque presents a Tenebrae program inspired by the music historically performed on Good Friday during the Baroque period.
Featuring the Karfreitag Lieder of Samuel Capricornus and Tenebrae Lessons by Giovanni Paolo Colonna, this program explores themes of love, lamentation, and consolation through the expressive pairing of soprano voices and viol consort.
We invite you to join us for a reflective and historically informed performance during Holy Week.
Teresa Wakim, Agnes Coakley Cox - soprano, Jane Hershey, Alice Robbins, Anne Legene, Douglas Kelley, Robert Eisenstein – viola da gamba, Nathaniel Cox – theorbo, Andrus Madsen – keyboard continuo
