Director Biography - Oana Martisca
Born in Romania and recently moved to Miami, a graduate student at the University of Miami.She is a multidisciplinary artist interested in all aspects of travel, its people, and the endless stories that unfold. Her works explore themes of identity, migration and immigration, map and territory, and cross-cultural connections; they explore new realities in an era of global interconnectedness, bringing greater awareness to cultural diversity. In the footsteps of Pico Iyer and Werner Herzog, she traveled the world and lived throughout Europe and South America, honing her language among native speakers - an opportunity that has only taught her to appreciate literature, slow-journalism and its cultural nuances all the more. Her short documentary work has won several international awards, for best documentary, best female director and best made in Miami.
