About this Event
Join us on March 2nd for an evening exploring the many different career pathways in, around and behind the music industry. As well as exploring what it means to be a performing artist, work as an indepedent musician and apply for funding for your own musical projects, this evening will also introduce careers you might not be so familiar with; backstage production; digital and streaming; music journalism and archiving and socially engaged music practices.
Professionals from NYJO, ELAM, Guildhall, UEL, Small Green Shoots, and more will be there to answer your questions. Vocal artist, educator and community practitioner MIRI will host a drop in artist Q+A and Newham Music professionals will run a CV clinic.
We'll also be joined by creatives working at the forefront of their industries in two talks:
Music can pay the bills: Equitable careers in the music industry, exploring pathways into the industry and mechnisms for sustaining yourself as an artist. Featuring songwriter and teacher Nia Ekanem, music archivist Naz from Newham, and artist Young Athena.
