About this Event
Newcomer Kitchen is a Not for Profit Food Entrepreneurship Training Program for Newcomer Women. This dinner is available for pick-up at Trinity St. Pauls Church at Spadina and Bloor Street or for delivery by Good Foot Delivery.
Raabta Lahore Dinner
Appetizer
Chana Chaat (chickpea salad). There are a mulitude of varieties of Chana Chaat depending on the region. Raabta (which means ‘connection’) does their version with chickpeas, tomatoes and slivered onions with a sweet/sour tamarind chutney and a yogurt and corriander. It just gets your tastebuds rolling.
Meat Main
Roasted chicken in a spicy tomato curry served with rice and a seasonal salad.
Vegetarian Main
Creamy golden Daal is served over a bed rice. Thi s simple dish is a staple across cultures because it just nourishes the soul. Served with a seasonal salad.
Dessert
An unusal and incredibily delicious sweet carrot halva pudding. Grated carrot is fried in ghee and simmered in a cardamon infused cream and topped with crushed pistachios.
