Join us for an unforgettable evening of music by three of the world’s most beloved composers—Brahms, Mozart, and Dvořák—under the baton of GRAMMY Award-winning conductor Andrew Litton, Music Director of the New York City Ballet. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, performed by CSO Principal Clarinet Charles Messersmith, is a masterpiece that showcases the clarinet’s warm, lyrical beauty. Messersmith, a member of the CSO since 1998, brings over two decades of experience to this stunning performance, infusing the piece with soul and artistry.
The highlight of the night is Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony, where Czech folk melodies meet the sounds of America in a thrilling symphonic journey. Composed during Dvořák’s time in New York City, this work blends the familiar with the exotic, capturing his longing for home and his love for his adopted country.
The Charleston Symphony Chorus will also join the orchestra for Brahms’s "Song of Destiny," a deeply emotional work that explores the complexity of human fate. Its stirring harmonies are a perfect complement to the evening’s dramatic intensity.
