New Wave - Punk Rock Face Off Featuring The Nozzles, Substance & 1978

Nozzles are a band from tiny Dangar Island in the Hawkesbury. They are all seasoned campaigners at the cultural coalface. One of them played at Lolloapallooza and Woodstock II. Another has gigged at Long Bay Jail, and yet another Doncaster Working Men's Club. See? I told you. They make a tricksy, slightly arty racket with hooks. They play pretty fast sometimes. 'Retro-furturistic New Wave' are some words put next to each other.
Mid slot, midlife, maximum volume. Substance is an intense postpunk/new wave band whose angular guitars, relentless beats and shimmering hooks combine into something surprisingly dancey.
1978 take their inspiration from the UK, US and Australian Punk and New Wave scene of the late 70’s. Bands like The Clash, The Damned, the Saints and The Ramones provide the inspiration. It’s all about the high energy, kick out the jams approach that captures the spirit of the bands and sounds of that time. It’s a lot of fun!
