New Wave Creatives is a supportive group for emerging artists and creatives aged 18–28.
About this Event

New Wave Creatives is a supportive group for emerging artists and creatives aged 18–28. Whether you're studying in the arts, a recent graduate, or completely self-taught, this is your space to experiment, collaborate, and grow.

Join us for a monthly meet-up where you’ll develop new skills, connect with fellow artists, and take your work to the next level. Plus, with mentoring support from Jelly, you’ll gain insider knowledge and guidance to help shape your creative journey.

This is your space—let’s create.

This month join artist facilitator Brenda Goodchild to help plan the New Wave Creatives stall at the Jelly xmas shop. A chance to sell your own work —connect, experiment, and collaborate with fellow artists aged 18 to 28

You are also welcome to bring along your own projects to work on, or show the group for feedback.

Meet Our New Wave Facilitator: Brenda Goodchild

Brenda Goodchild holds the space for New Wave Creatives, offering creative sparks to inspire and encourage artistic exploration. She focuses on creating a calm, playful, and welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable to take part in a way that works for them.

Brenda graduated with a BA (Hons) in Illustration in 2008 and has since worked as a community artist, leading mural projects with young children and NGOs to enhance public spaces and address social injustices. Her work also explores themes of politics, the environment, and identity through detailed pen and pencil illustrations.

In 2011, Brenda was awarded the Olive Morris Award for her community art and graphic design projects focused on social issues. After spending a decade as an art educator, she is now training as an art psychotherapist, using creativity to help young people navigate trauma and personal challenges.

Frequently asked questions:

We are a small team working behind the scenes answering your questions. If you email us via eventbrite or via our website we will answer as soon as we can.

Where are you based?

Our studios are located within Broad St Mall. You can find us on the first floor. We are the last unit before the toilets and exit to the carpark. If you get lost please ask any Broad St Mall security guard and they will direct you.

Sometimes our workshops take place in the community. Be sure to check the address on your ticket. When we are out and about in Reading town centre in Forbury Gardens or at festivals we will not know our exact location within the festival site until the day.

Can I arrive early?

To allow ample time for our workshop host to prepare the space and set everything up, we kindly request that you arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. This allows us to create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure everything is ready for your arrival.

If you're curious about the space or would like to introduce your children to the workshop environment beforehand, we're more than happy to accommodate your request. Contact us and we can provide you with photos of the space or arrange a visit prior to the workshop. We want to make sure you feel comfortable and excited about the experience!
