Description:

In this "Basic Journaling” course, you will put your drawing and painting skills to good use. Try your hand at different layout and composition styles as you are given projects to observe and sketch your surroundings, and put your feelings and thoughts in your sketchbook. Know the difference between documentary journaling and reflective journaling and create pages that are deeply personal. While exploring themes for your pages and learning about typography, you’ll add depth and open possibilities to what travel journaling can bring to your life.

  • Overcoming first‑page jitters and creative blocks
  • Image‑dominant, text‑dominant, and balanced layouts
  • Documentary vs reflective journaling approaches

  • Exploring themes from daily life, neighbourhoods, and trips

Materials
  • Session 1: Bring a pencil, eraser and 5 sheets of A4 paper
  • Subsequent sessions: Participants may use any medium of choice to develop their journals (typically pen & ink or watercolour). The trainer will advise before each session.
