In this class, we will explore a straightforward technique that offers limitless possibilities for crafting distinctive fused glass designs. As indicated by the class title, we will create stacks of glass that will be fused together to form vibrant rings of color. We will cover design elements, glass interactions, the differences between transparent and opaque glass, and how to arrange the stacks for an aesthetically pleasing composition. For the final project, you will create a panel that can be shaped into a platter, tray, or used as a standalone piece, based on your preference. The workshop will also cover topics such as the chemistry of glass, firing temperatures, and how glass reacts to heat. Due to the firing process in the kiln taking up to 50 hours in total, participants will be able to pick up their finished projects at a later date. This workshop is designed for beginners who have never worked with glass before.
