Losing income, stability, and a place to connect with the community, hosting the New Roots Small Business Pop-up brings these small businesses together to rebuild, reconnect, and grow."What happened at the Painted Tree was heartbreaking. At the Clive location alone, around 300 small business owners lost not only their storefront, but a source of income they depended on. We were given about a week to go in and tear down everything we had worked so incredibly hard to build.
These are real people who poured their time, money, creativity, and heart into making their dreams a reality, only to have everything ripped away in a matter of minutes with an unexpected email.
My goal with this event is to create a space where the community can come together to support the small businesses impacted by the sudden closure. This pop-up was designed to be a free opportunity for vendors to reconnect with their customers, sell overflowing inventory, rebuild visibility and momentum for their businesses, and most importantly, recover some of their financial losses, especially since we were never paid for our April sales.
