New Dublin Voices and conductor Bernie Sherlock present The Dark Cloths of Night, a richly varied programme specially chosen and balanced for a Festival late-night event.
The music ranges from the quiet spiritual power of Ich bin das Brot des Lebens by Wolfram Buchenberg to the almost cinematic glory of a brand-new Yeats setting, Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven by Ben Heneghan.
The programme also features pieces by some of today’s leading Irish composers. These include Under-Song by Seán Doherty, and Jonathan Nangle’s haunting O Curlew. Biblical settings old and new place Byrd’s Haec dies alongside Caroline Shaw’s intimate response to Psalm 84, …and the swallow….
