We were delighted with results from the Japanese Woodblock printing workshop 'Catching a Wave' with Julia Evans (authentic moku hanga style!) We made our own versions of Hokusai's 'Great Wave off Kanagawa'😁😆 We've added two more dates for this popular workshop, both using mokuhanga style, and with different themes :
Thu 3rd October 'Iconic Landscapes' new date

Thu 28 Nov 'Catching a Wave'

Tutor Julie arrives with all the printing kits etc needed for the courses and students will come away with some really effective prints. Many previous students admitted being really taken with this wood block process of printing - compared to lino cut
If you wish to make a weekend of it, you can book both days to further master this method. Your favourite print could be enlarged to an impressive wall size hanging using a local print shop (or online service) if you wanted to display the finished product in all its glory!
(The most famous wave print of all, 'Great Wave off Kanagawa' depicts three boats moving through a storm-tossed sea, with a large, cresting tsunami wave forming a spiral in the centre and Mount Fuji visible in the background. The technique is woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, created in late 1831 during the Edo period of Japanese history)
All our days inc lovely home made lunch, fresh coffees, and a cream tea in the afternoon.
There are plenty of B and B's locally, plus a lovely pub serving tasty food and offering accommodation, the Boot and Shoe, here in the village - please see greystokevillage.co.uk or check out airbnb too.
