How many neurodivergent staff are in your team and how do you accommodate their individual needs?Neurodiversity refers to variations in the workings of the human brain. So while we are all neurodiverse, people whose brains work in a less typical way are usually referred to as neurodivergent. Neurodivergent conditions include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, Tourette syndrome and various types of cognitive and learning differences.
While previously thought of as a disability, neurodivergence is now understood to be simply a difference in brain functions, which presents a range of advantages and benefits, as well as challenges in the workplace.
This course provides foundation knowledge about neurodiversity, but the key focus is on practical ways managers can identify neurodivergent staff (given that status is often not disclosed) and accommodate and work with those staff.
