About this Event

NeuroAware CIC

We offer an advocacy service for individuals who are neurodiverse or for parent/carers with neurodiverse children who require support navigating the SEND/EHCP process. Legally qualified, insured, registered with ICO and with lived experience of both neurodivergence and parenting a ND child.

We are initially offering free drop ins across East Durham (Peterlee and surrounding villages) for neurodivergent individuals and/or parent/carers of SEND children.

We offer a friendly welcome, free refreshments and a non-judgemental space to contribute as much or as little as you like. If you have a specific query you would like to discuss, you are more than welcome to speak to the Director, Johanna (AuDHD and parenting an AuDHD child).

We wanted a space for individuals to drop into and to be around similar people who just 'get it' and understand your doom piles, procrastination, CAMHS waiting times, EHCPs and SEN Plans.

Please join us! If you have any specific requirements or need some photos of the venues or someone to meet you outside and walk you in, just let us know!
💚We provide information, advocacy and support surrounding neurodiversity, Special Educational Needs and EHCP processes. This gives you the knowledge and confidence to stand up for yourself or your child, by refusing to accep less than what the law requires.
💚Founded by a neurodivergent parent in East Durham, with first-hand experience of the relentless challenges of raising a child with SEND and a clear understanding of the impact navigating these processes can have on families. I bring a detailed understanding of SEND law, EHCP processes and advocacy, combined with the reality of what it is like to sit on the other side of the table as a parent.
💚What we can offer-:
•Support and resources for neurodiverse individuals
• Guidance, advocacy and support for parents and carers of SEND children, particularly in relation to EHCPs, SEN Tribunals, school communication and DLA forms
• Community-based training to improve awareness and inclusion
• An online-based support group, wellbeing sessions, coffee mornings and day trips.
💚If you would like further information or guidance, please do send me a message via social media, What's App 07904146455 or [email protected]
