Nettle season is well and truly upon us! Join us for a potluck celebrating this glorious plant on Saturday, April 11 from 5-8pm at the All-Saints-by-the-Sea dining room overlooking Ganges Harbour, located at 110 Park Drive.Bring your favourite nettle dish to share with the community, and any nettle art or crafts you'd like to display. All ages, all people welcome. There will be a couple of hot plates available to warm your dish if needed. Nettle tea, water and service ware will be provided.
We encourage everyone to forage respectfully and with care, nettles are an important part of our ecosystem. Here are some ideas for a family/friends nettle walk to harvest responsibly: https://indigenoussteam.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/plant-nettle-harvest-walk.pdf. This event takes place on the unceded territories of the Hul'qumi'num and SENĆOŦEN speaking Coast Salish people.
This is a free event, though donations are gladly accepted to help cover event costs. Our goal is simply to bring people together around this wonderful wild-foraged food source and enjoy a great meal together!
