Why are energy prices seemingly never coming down? Is it because of Net Zero targets? Big green energy? A corrupt (or more likely inept) Government? Vladmir Putin? Brexit? Will Smith? Debate is encouraged.
Dr Gordon Watson MEng CEng MIET has over ten years experience working in the electrical engineering sector and spent the majority of his career getting renewables connected to power networks in the UK and around the world. He has worked with universities, power distribution/transmission, developers, and consultants on various projects including Distributed ReStart with National Grid, power system studies for offshore windfarms in France, consulting for licensee discussions with the UK energy regulator, getting into muddy fields with connection providers to design grid connections, and creating a real-life (model) Thunderbirds with his university colleagues.
In his personal life, Gordon is the father to the cutest, best, and most stubborn wee girl on the planet. And, in general, has far too many hobbies including but not limited to; being in a rock band, running a community of misfits, salsa dancing, enjoying fancy restaurants, playing video/board games, and painting miniatures.
This is event is free to attend, although we will be asking for donations at the end of the talk. Participants are under no obligation whatsoever to donate, however please rest assured that the money we collect doesn't end up in anyone's pocket - it is used to fund our overhead costs, and travel/accommodation for our speakers who come from further afield.
Accessibility: The Admiral Woods Bar now has a functioning lift which can take wheelchair users (or others who are unable to manage stairs) down to the function room.
