About this Event
During this session of the AARC's Exhibit Art Day, Artists Sun-Jue Shin and Allen Zewen Yu will host a loosely structured artist talk exploring the inspiration and the rich cultural background of their ongoing exhibition, , at the AARC. They will discuss their spring 2025 research trip to Japan and Korea, which informed the conceptual and cultural foundations of the work, with a focus on nerikomi: a ceramic technique that uses layered colored clay to create intricate patterns.
The talk will be followed by a live demonstration of nerikomi pattern-making and the creation process behind the colorful porcelain flowers featured in the exhibition and will conclude with a Q&A session.
