💻⚛️How to build a quantum computer; AKA physicists are wizards 🧙
Quantum computing: Maybe you’ve heard of this burgeoning technology, or maybe your eyes start to glaze over when you hear the word ‘qubit’. Quantum computing is incredible, but it’s also super complicated. That’s a problem because it’s impossible to appreciate something you don’t understand. I want to show you how to build your very own quantum computer while also convincing you of something else: physicists are wizards. No, maybe we don’t fly on broomsticks or shoot fireballs, but lasers are pretty close. I want to show you that the cutting edge of physics and technology is just as astounding as a magic spell (albeit well understood), no math required.
About the presenter: Emma Frantz recently moved to Strasbourg as a postdoctoral researcher on the aQCess quantum computing platform at CESQ. She graduated with her PhD in Spintronics from the University of California, Irvine at the end of 2025 (after dropping out of wizard school).
🌍The earth isn't flat, but do you know how you know that ? 🧐
We all know the earth isn't flat... right ? There is loads of evidence of this... right ? But does all that evidence come from a real sceptic perspective or are we all repeating what we were taught in schools without really knowing how to justify this belief in the "globe earth" ? Let's analyze what are good arguments in favor of the scientific worldview in the playground of conspiracy theories in order to better prepare ourselves and the people around us against bad arguments and ideas.
About the presenter:
Clément is a mechanical engineer that spent an embarrassing amount of time debating and observing conspiracy theorists online and wants to share the fruits of his labor to a wider audience.
