This year marks a historic milestone for the first time, NRNA NZ is organising Nepal Festival in the South Island, bringing our vibrant culture and community spirit to Christchurch. This is a significant step in expanding our cultural presence across Aotearoa and strengthening connections within the wider New Zealand community.
Nepal and New Zealand share a long-standing friendship built on courage, respect, and shared history from the legacy of Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpa community to the growing Nepalese diaspora contributing meaningfully across New Zealand today. Cultural celebrations like Nepal Festival are more than events; they are a cornerstone in deepening bilateral understanding and people-to-people ties between our two nations.
The cherry on tops this year will be the presence of Her Excellency Chitra Lekha Yadav, Ambassador of Nepal to Australia and New Zealand, who will be travelling from Canberra to address the festival. Her attendance reflects the importance of this occasion and the strengthening relationship between Nepal and New Zealand.
