- Air Leak Syndromes
- Meconium Aspiration Syndrome
- Blood Gas Interpretation
- X-Ray Interpretation
- Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension
The Neonatal Critical Care Course is designed to provide the healthcare professional with the necessary knowledge to care for critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
After completion of the program the attendee will be able to:
· Identify maternal risk factors that impact on neonatal outcome
· Understand the physiology of respiratory distress syndrome and the role for surfactant
· Recognize radiographic findings of common respiratory diseases
· Diagnose and treat persistent pulmonary hypertension of the new born
· Interpret blood gases
· Identify common morbidities associated with Extremely Low Birth Weight infants
· Recognize and stabilize patients with congenital cardiac disease
· Recognition and management of the infant with hyperbilirubinemia
· Address breastfeeding challenges in preterm and sick newborns
· Understanding and treatment of neonatal seizures
· Present information on high risk infant follow up
