An open-ended crafting meetup for creative + crafty adults.
About this Event

Join us for a welcoming, hands-on crafting event for adults who want to make time for creativity and community. ***Past attendees, please note: this time we're meeting at a new venue!

Use our materials or bring your own project to work on in the company of others! We have supplies for embroidery, crochet, knitting, jewelry design, collage, needline felting, and more. Your ticket allows you to engage with whatever materials you like!

While there’s no set project or instructor for these meetups, we offer a supportive, inclusive environment where we help each other, share ideas and enjoy the creative process together.

For the first time ever, we'll be meeting in a beautiful, sunlit community space we're rented for the occasion at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River. West Shore UUC is located at 20401 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River, OH. There is plenty of free parking on site.

Your ticket covers the cost of any materials you'd like to use during our meetup. You are welcome to bring in your own snacks and beverages.

Neon Heron Craft Community was developed as a master’s thesis project by Marissa Siebert, a candidate in the MA Creative Business Leadership program at Savannah College of Art and Design. The project explored how open-ended studio experiences and creative community spaces can help adults build confidence and connection through crafting.

In the summer of 2025, Neon Heron Craft Community completed its pilot season with six open-ended crafting meetups. In addition to creating with over 70 unique individuals, we also raised $500 for the BAYarts Sensory Garden project.

Important details:

These events are adults only. While we love kids, this project is specifically exploring adult crafting habits.
You do not need to bring your own materials -- we have plenty of supplies to explore! However, some guests do prefer to work on their own projects from home and that's ok, too.
