About this Event
This year, the duo brings a program that balances powerful historical tributes with the whimsical charm of the French avant-garde.
Fiona opens the program by highlighting her recent research into pioneering female composers. She will perform solo works by Amy Beach and Florence Price, two titans of American music whose compositions blend Romantic tradition with deep, soulful expression.
Neil then transports us to early 20th-century Paris, offering a study in contrasts. Experience the atmospheric beauty of Claude Debussy through the timeless Clair de lune and the playful, cakewalk-inspired General Lavine – eccentric. These will be set against the "offbeat" genius of Erik Satie; Gymnopédie No. 1, the cabaret-style waltz Je te veux, and selections from the witty, satirical Sports et Divertissements.
