About the Event

For this session, we will be gathering around real ones by katherena vermette—an evocative novel that explores identity, belonging, and truth.

✨ We are honoured to have katherena vermette joining us in person for this gathering. ✨

This event is designed as an introduction to the book, making it accessible whether you’ve already read it or are encountering it for the first time.

To deepen the experience, we’re also honoured to welcome Musqueam artist and guest weaver Aleen Sparrow, who will guide participants through a bracelet-making practice. This hands-on element invites us to engage with story not just intellectually, but physically—through creation, rhythm, and presence.

We are offering free copies of Real Ones for Indigenous participants as part of our commitment to accessibility and reciprocity.

We want this space to support Indigenous readers in receiving and connecting with this story.
