The history, culture and heritage at Nee Soon Village is not well chronicled. Most people don’t take the North too seriously. But things are changing. The new Springleaf MRT has added some life to this once sleepy laid-back hamlet. Eateries are springing up by the dozens.
As new eateries rush in to capitalize on the new found fortune, the older shops are rising up to the challenge. Ngee Fou Ampang Yong Tau Foo has been here for decades. I know them well. They were and still are my neighbors.
The landed real estate at Springleaf here were a pittance in the 1970s. They couldn’t sell. Nobody believed the North will prevail. It has been almost 50 years since. The landed homes today are now suddenly worth a fortune.
The newly launched Springleaf Residence (just next to the MRT station) is an additional boost. How the tide has changed! I invite you to join me for a rustic walk through an old hometown - full of old-world charm.
We meet at Springleaf MRT (Exit 2) at 9am on the 26th Sept 2026 (SATURDAY). This tour will end at the same Springleaf MRT, about 11.30am – just before the lunch crowd arrive.
