Wendy Wasserstein’s Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning script follows Heidi’s political and personal journey from 1965 to 1989, as she grows from a precocious teenager, to a disillusioned young adult, to a self-actualized professor. Through interactions with those around her, Heidi works to find or build feminist community, lasting friendships, and self-respect – as well as a way for her romantic hopes to co-exist with her strong values.
38 years after the play was first staged, younger and older audiences alike will relate deeply to Heidi and her friends’ joys, griefs, and struggles in a patriarchal, homophobic society.
This amateur production is played in English, and the script rights were purchased through ATR.
