About this Event

Running a business is rewarding, and it can also be a lot to carry on your own. That is why we gather every month, over a real meal, in a room full of women who get it. Whether you are a longtime NAWBO member or joining us for the very first time, you belong here.

Come ready to connect, learn something useful, and leave feeling a little more grounded in where you are headed. Our monthly luncheons are designed to give you both practical insight and the kind of peer community that makes the entrepreneurial journey feel a lot less solo.

FEATURED PRESENTATION

✨ Intersectional Leadership: Seeing the Whole Woman in Business

You do not walk into your business as just a business owner. You walk in as a caregiver, a community member, a person of faith, a professional with a history, and a woman navigating a world that was not always designed with you in mind. All of that shapes how you lead, how you decide, and how you serve. The question is not whether it does. It is whether you are leading with that awareness or quietly working against yourself.

This session introduces intersectionality, a framework developed by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw, and brings it directly into the world of women-owned business. Mia Coltrane, founder of SiVad Vision LLC, draws on her background in trauma-informed leadership, public-sector HR, and higher education to make this conversation both grounded and practical.

Mia will explore how overlapping identities and responsibilities, including entrepreneurship, caregiving, professional history, age, faith, and community roles, shape the way we lead, make decisions, serve clients, and sustain our businesses over time. Expect real examples, honest conversation, and frameworks you can actually use.

You will walk away with a clearer picture of how your whole self shows up in your business, and concrete strategies for leading with greater awareness, intention, and staying power.

Session Outcomes:
  • Explore how your overlapping identities and responsibilities shape your leadership style, decision-making, and client relationships
  • Understand how intersectionality as a framework applies practically to the everyday realities of running a women-owned business
  • Learn strategies to build a more sustainable, values-aligned business by leading with greater self-awareness and intentionality
