About this Event
The conflict in the Gulf is causing shortages of oil, gas and fertilisers around the world, and the situation could worsen dramatically as countries burn through their reserves. At the same time, we have seen the ending of ever-freer trade, a splintering of international consensus on climate action, and the promotion of geopolitical fragility by the second Trump Administration. Set against this backdrop, however, we are living through explosive growth and plummeting costs in renewable energy, batteries and EVs, and the dawn of a new era of artificial intelligence. What does all this mean for New Zealand? Does the new security and geopolitical environment necessitate a policy U-turn? Or can the needs of climate, economics and energy security be reconciled?
Global energy thought leader Michael Liebreich will share his international insights in Wellington on the morning of Friday 5 June. Michael is the founder of BloombergNEF and Chairman and CEO of Liebreich Associates, as well as being a prolific writer and broadcaster, and host of YouTube channel Cleaning Up. The event is being facilitated by ERGANZ and will be hosted at the Wellington offices of MinterEllisonRuddWatts.
Date and time: Friday 5 June, 7.30am-9.30am. A light breakfast will be served from 7.30am, with Michael's address starting at 8.00am. Please email [email protected] with any dietary requirements.
There will also be the option to join online if you are unable to make it in person.
