Inclusion/Exclusion: You Can’t Come to My Party and Navigating Identity Formation in Childhood
About this Event

The California International Reggio Center (CIRC) is pleased to partner with experienced educator and parent coach Darcy Campbell.

Join us for Inclusion/Exclusion: You Can’t Come to My Party and Navigating Identity Formation in Childhood. This is the third event in a series of four parent workshops.

Exclusion, inclusion, group think, desire to belong, coming to know oneself and others, and learning to communicate one’s preferences are all aspects of human development… maybe not desirable all the time, but almost always typical elements in identity formation. Children's identity formation evolves from birth and peaks in adolescence, moving from awareness of self to a complex understanding of self and others shaped by interactions, choices, situations and even environments. This workshop will explore the tribal nature of children and their need (and right) to include/exclude, accept and reject, and how to navigate adult fears and learn to guide with respectful strategies that empower our children to respect themselves and others.
