About this Event

In the world of product innovation, traction is king. Investors want to see it. Founders are aware they need to generate it. But what does it actually look like, and how do we generate it before we have a market-ready product? In this session, Matt Langford (product designer and tech strategist at People Planet Product) will cover a framework for approaching product innovation with a traction-first mindset, to help founders generate the necessary evidence of demand that investors and stakeholders want.

We'll cover:

1. Understanding Demand: Differentiating between who could use your product, and who would be crazy not to. This is based on understanding which problems are actually painful and urgent for users to solve.

2. Defining Your Outcome: What is the core outcome you can provide for these users? In the simplest terms, how does this represent an ROI for them? Particularly relevant when the user and customer are different!

3. A Route to Revenue: What is stopping you from having sales conversations? How can you package your offer so that you can start having sales conversations at the earliest possible opportunity?

4. Deciding What to Build: With that offer in mind, what (as a minimum) do you need to develop technically to actually sell?

Who is it for?

This session is for founders and innovators who are:

  • developing a new product or service
  • actively in the process or considering raising initial funds
  • are pre-revenue or early-stage revenue and are unsure how to generate traction to attract investment, or de-risk subsequent development steps
