About this Event
Leigh's Forest School alongside The Children's Wood are delivering a training day which will inspire practitioners working outdoors with children and young people. You will have the opportunity to learn team games, explore nature activities and engage in wellbeing arts and crafts. You will learn how to set up and light a small fire responsibly and how this can be done safely with children and young people. All risk assessments will be covered.
This training day takes place at Children's Wood and Meadow, (G20 8PR) on Saturday 2nd November 2024 from 10am-3pm.
We will be covering the following areas:
- Using natural resources found in any woodland to create mindful Arts and Crafts
-Hands-on experience of outdoor games and activities that all children and young people can engage in
-How to safely put up a hammock (risk assessment)
- Fire (risk assessment; preparation, safety rules and how to light, run and cook on a fire with a group/ class of children)
Kit will be supplied. Hot drinks and easy fire side snacks will also be part of the course.
Please dress appropiately for the weather and bring your lunch on the day.
As Leigh and Andrea are both seasoned Forest School Leaders, the training day will also have a focus on inclusion, 'leave no trace' and sustainability.
The cost for the training day is £85 and you will receive a certificate of attendance and participation, outlining the skills that you have learned and achieved.
