About this Event
Currently, over one million people live in relative poverty in Scotland; it has been estimated that 24% of children, 21% of working-age adults and 15% of pensioners live in relative poverty. These rates have remained persistent in recent years, with continued inequality and rising living costs worsening an incredibly difficult situation for women and families.
Overall poverty prevents women from accessing vital resources and services, limiting their healthy life expectancies and contributing to poor wellbeing. As an organisation which focuses on the lived experience of women, we want to gather your thoughts and views on the issue of poverty, and how this actively impacts your everyday life.
During the event, you will hear from a range of speakers who will provide their expertise surrounding poverty in Scotland, and how this impacts women. This will be followed by a Q&A, where you will have the opportunity to ask relevant questions. Following a free buffet lunch, attendees will also be asked to take part in roundtables, where women’s lived experience will be centred throughout discussions.
We hope to create a welcoming and safe space for all attendees and are aware that topics covered during the day may cause distress. Therefore, there will be listeners on hand throughout our event to provide support.
