Nature Writing Book Group with Jessica
Discusses The Light Eaters: How the Unseen World of Plant Intelligence Offers a New Understanding of Life on Earth by Zoe Schlanger
Wine provided
Led by Greenlight's owner Jessica, our new Nature Writing Book Group meets monthly during the summer months to discuss great works of nature writing, from essays to science and culture writing to poetry. Join us in our local community garden (just two blocks from the bookstore!) for an intimate conversation about the intersections of literature and the natural world, over a complementary glass of wine!
For July, the group discusses journalist Zoe Schlanger's multi-award-winning book The Light Eaters. An eye-opening and informative look at the ecosystem we live in, The Light Eaters challenges us to rethink the role of plants—and our own place—in the natural world, tackling the enthralling question of plant consciousness along the way.
Special notes on this series: RSVPs are required and space is limited. A percentage of Greenlight's sales of all featured titles for the series during June to September will be donated to , a nonprofit, volunteer-run garden and part of the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust.
