Become a Nature Unplugged advocate! This immersive experience begins with a dynamic workshop and continues into a guided hike in the beautiful Black Rock area of Joshua Tree National Park. The Advocate Workshop will be followed by a guided 90-minute walk through the serene desert landscape to deepen your connectedness with nature. This immersive experience takes place in the Black Rock area of Joshua Tree National Park, with the Advocate Workshop held in the Black Rock Nature Center. The workshop is ideal for people who want to learn more about the Nature Unplugged “Wellness in the Digital Age” concepts and curriculum for living with more intention in a digitally distracted world. It provides tools to make an immediate and positive impact in your personal and professional life. No experience or expertise is required. Park pass not included and not required for this area of the park. No meals or equipment are provided. The indoor portion of this class is ADA accessible. It requires very little travel with ADA accommodations, such as accessible parking, available. This outdoor portion is moderate. It requires approximately 3 miles of walking with limited elevation gain on somewhat variable terrain and/or more than one hour outdoors in the elements. Sebastian Slovin is the co-founder of Nature Unplugged, alongside his wife, Sonya. Since Sebastian can remember, nature has been a central part of his life. He was fortunate to grow up in the beach community of La Jolla, California, and spent his childhood exploring both the land and the sea. His passion for nature led him to pursue a BA in Environmental Policy at San Diego State University. He also holds an MA in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego. In 2012, Sebastian and his wife, Sonya, founded Nature Unplugged, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides education and training to promote preventative mental health solutions that inspire wellness in the digital age. Since 2012, their work has focused on addressing the declining mental health of individuals in a digitally saturated, nature-deficient society. He is the author of The Adventures of Enu, Ashes in the Ocean, and co-author of Experience Nature Unplugged: A Guide to Wellness in the Digital Age.
