About this Event
Join Alya Ensemble for their spring concert featuring guest artist composer Justin Greene! Jean, Amy, and Justin will join together to present a unique collection of works, including a solo piece for each of their instruments as well as ensemble pieces. The musical experience will be enhanced by two mocktail offerings (one drink per attendee is included in the ticket price) crafted by Justin in response to the musical program.
The program theme, natural/unnatural worlds is inspired by the new and ever-present dialogues we find ourselves in today: the weaving together of natural intelligence & “artificial” intelligence in our daily lives; the opportunities for in-person engagement as well as broader digital networks and connections; and what we see and experience on one level vs. the bigger contexts and processes behind any given setting, product, or exchange. We present this concert as an opportunity to examine and process these aspects of life through musical composition and improvisation. Our pieces include:
“The Time Curve Preludes, Book II, XV and XVII” by William Duckworth
“Tracing Swamp Light” (2024) by Justin Greene
“Scratching at the Door” (2024) Justin Greene
“Swerve” (2017) Jessica Meyer
“The Land We Stand on is Ours” (2017) Quinn Collins
“Trois Gymnopédies” (1888) Erik Satie
Tickets are available for purchase on Eventbrite at 3 levels: adult general admission, youth general admission, and a number of free tickets for those who find that financially helpful.
