About this Event

Date: August 22nd & 23rd, 2026

Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture

Join us for a two-day, hands-on workshop exploring natural dye pattern printing with mordants. Designed for those ready to move beyond immersion dyeing, this workshop focuses on surface design, layering, and plant-based color processes.
On the first day, we cover mordants, print recipes, and color development, followed by a printing demo. Participants mix mordant paints, create patterned samples, and experiment with dyeing and overdyeing while planning a larger project. On the second day, we harvest fresh plant materials, build dye baths, and prepare final pieces (silk yardage). Participants explore layering, resist techniques, and overdyeing, leaving with samples, a finished piece, and the skills to continue natural dye printing.

All materials will be provided.

No natural dye experience required.

For ages 16 and older. Those under age 16 may attend accompanied by an adult.

About the Instructor:

Madelaine Corbin is a fiber artist with a focus on weaving and natural dyeing. Her work has taken her around the world to learn about ancient dyes, sericulture, loom making, and where color comes from. Her studies inform her practice and the classes she teaches in fiber, dyeing, and textile construction methods. Madelaine grows her own dye plants for her artworks and helps cultivate dye gardens for other color enthusiasts and educational programs. Madelaine’s work has been supported by residencies across the United States and around the world. Her projects take the form of physical artworks, writing, and her collaborative textile and furniture studio in Philomath, Oregon called OMNIBLOOM.
