About this Event
Join the Rahway River Watershed Association and the City of Rahway for a Ribbon Cutting to acknowledge the completion of our newly expanded native plant garden, located on site at the RRWA Watershed Learning Center in Rahway.
The project began with the creation of a native plant seed library. About 30 species of seeds were sown in the winter of 2025, germinated and grew in our greenhouses throughout last summer, and were planted last fall. Many volunteers, service groups, and interns helped to propagate the plants and prepare the site for planting. An 8 foot fence was installed around the garden to protect against deer browse.
The Ribbon Cutting, officiated by Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbe, will take place on June 13 from 4 to 5pm. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
Immediately following the Ribbon Cutting, the RRWA will hold our 35th Anniversary Blooms & Bites Garden Party, which will take place in Lower Essex Street Park, adjacent to the garden. It will include food and live music and be a paid event. Please register on Eventbrite.
