Mato Wayuhi is a multidisciplinary artist originally from South Dakota. He works in film/TV both as a producer and musical composer, as well as writing his own music, garnering critical acclaim from NPR, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. Most notably, Mato is the composer for the award-winning FX/Hulu series Reservation Dogs. "Mato’s music is everything that good Indigenous art is right now. We are in a Renaissance and his music speaks directly to that movement. It’s unapologetic, it doesn’t need permission to exist and it’s made with an urgency — An urgency to move us into a new era" says Sterlin Harjo, creator and showrunner of Reservation Dogs. A recent graduate of the University of Southern California, Mato continues to work and play in Los Angeles, spending parts of his summers attending ceremonies and bumming around with family back home

Frank Waln-Rooted in the Lakota tradition of storytelling, multi-genre music artist Frank Waln will share work inspired by his upbringing on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and his life as a Native artist finding success in a world shaped by settler colonialism. By exploring themes of settler colonialism, mental health and cultural preservation, Frank’s performance connects Indigenous history in the US to issues currently affecting Native American communities and all Americans living on colonized land. Join us for this one of a kind performance that will connect us all to our past, present and future through songs and stories.

Frank Waln is a Lakota public speaker, multi-genre music artist and curator from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. He majored in Audio Arts & Acoustics at Columbia College Chicago where he was given the Mayor’s Award for Civic Engagement upon graduating. Frank Waln has received numerous awards for his work including three Native American Music Awards and an international film festival award for Best Music Video. He has received several national artist fellowships and has had numerous artist residencies including residencies at Harvard University, Grand Performances in downtown LA and Nemours Children’s Hospital. Frank Waln has appeared on radio and television for his work including MTV, ESPN and NPR. Frank was featured on the PBS music series One Voice where he performed his original compositions with the American Pops Orchestra and also hosted the show. Frank was recently featured on the cover of the book “Notable Native People: 50 Indigenous Leaders, Dreamers and Changemakers From Past and Present” by Cherokee Author Dr. Adrienne Keene. In his music, presentations and writing Frank Waln is passionate about bringing issues impacting Native Americans into the mainstream and public conscience. The themes of settler colonialism, mental health and cultural preservation dominate his creative work. His best work resides where the three intersect. As a public speaker, Frank delivers keynotes and presentations that range from a variety of topics including Native youth in education to the role of Native music in history. As a writer, his work has appeared in academic journals, magazines and the New York Times Best Selling book “American Like Me”. Frank Waln has performed and presented at numerous museums around the world including the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and the Linden Museum in Germany. He curated a music immersive space in the new Native American Exhibition Hall at the Field Museum in Chicago. As a self-managed artist and small business owner, Frank Waln founded an independent record label which releases award winning music that has garnered millions of views, streams and shares throughout the world. Frank Waln has presented his work and performed all around the world including three international tours. Described as “a masterclass in understanding the world from the viewpoint of Native America…”, Frank Waln’s powerful presentations and performances improve our understanding of our collective history and bring to light cultural strengths we can build on to create a more just world.

AUDIOPHARMACY WORLD HIP-HOP ENSEMBLE Audiopharmacy is a multi-cultural eclectic hip-hop ensemble intricately weaving together artistic and cultural wisdom from all corners of the Earth. Audiopharmacy’s performance is a global journey that fuses live instrumentation, turntablism, electronics, poetry, prayer and technical lyrics that stir, heal, and reveal. or AP LIVE CYPHER Audiopharmacy Founder + scratch DJ Teao Sense takes the audience on a cross genre turntable journey (Hip Hop, Latin, Afrobeats, World, Trap, Funk, Soul, House, Baile Funk, and more), adding an element of live looping, and turntablism, while Audiopharmacy band members trade solos adding flute, sax, indigenous (Afro-Native American) vocals, scratches, guitar, bass, bongos, dance, and crowd interaction. The DJ / Live Cypher is never the same show twice, and fuses the energy of a DJ/Dance party with a live performance and a positive vibration.
