More about this Tampa Bay Estuary Program Mini-Grant Project:
Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is located within the Tampa Bay watershed. The water that runs through our urban landscape drains into Lake Maggiore, flows into Salt Creek, then into Tampa Bay, bringing excess nutrients and pollution along with it. From 2024 to 2025, Tampa Bay Estuary Program's Tampa Bay Restoration Fund in collaboration with Southwest Florida Water Management District and the City of St. Petersburg revitalized 30 acres of wetland and upland habitat. This planting project will expand the footprint of this wetland corridor by connecting surrounding upland areas, providing habitat for biodiversity, and improving water quality from stormwater runoff.
Want to help fund future projects like this? Consider purchasing a Tampa Bay Estuary license plate which directly supports the Bay Mini-Grant Program.
