On Saturday, March 1, 2025, Red Cross volunteers and community partners will come together to install free smoke alarms for families in the Balcones Heights area as part of the Sound the Alarm event. This initiative is a key component of the national Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which has helped save at least 2,212 lives since its launch in October 2014.We’re calling on volunteers to join us in making homes safer by installing free smoke alarms in households without them and educating families about home fire safety.
No prior experience is necessary—training will be provided before volunteer teams begin installations.
