Information sharing event for senior leaders
About this Event

A private, information-sharing event ahead of the National review of group-based child sexual abuse and exploitation on Monday, 9 February 2026. This session is designed for senior leaders across Scotland’s public protection organisations and will outline the approach, timescales and expectations for Phase One of the review. This event also provides an opportunity to meet members of the review team leading this work.

Purpose of the event

To introduce senior leaders to the National review of group-based child sexual abuse and exploitation.
To provide an overview of the methodology, activities and expected timescales for Phase One, beginning on the same day.
To offer an opportunity for questions, discussion, and engagement through facilitated group activities with members of the review team.
To ensure Chief Officer Groups (COGs) and relevant partners are aware of the expectations and forthcoming formal notification.

Phase One of the review is expected to take six months to complete, with findings to be published thereafter.

Who should attend

This private event is intended for senior leaders, including:

Chief Executives of local authorities and health boards
Chief Officers of HSCPs
Chief Education Officers
Local Policing Commanders
Chief Social Work Officers
Nominated representatives of the above

Attendance limit

To manage capacity, each Chief Officer Group may register up to three attendees (or up to three per council area, where a COG covers multiple areas). Each COG should determine its nominated attendees. Chairs of Child Protection Committees and Public Protection Committees should also be made aware of the inspection work, whether they are attending.
