Hike for Home this autumn by completing the ultimate hillwalking challenge in the UK. Take on the world-famous National 3 Peaks for Shelter.
Twenty four hours. Three mountains. One unforgettable adventure.
Are you ready to push your limits and change lives while doing it?
Join Shelter for the National Three Peaks Challenge — a legendary test of endurance where you’ll climb the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon) — all in just 24 hours.
That’s over 23 miles of trekking, a total ascent of 3,064 metres, and an incredible opportunity to raise vital funds to help tackle the housing emergency in the UK.
Why Take On the Challenge?
-Make Every Step Count: Every mountain you climb helps the fight for the right to a safe home for everyone.
-Test Your Strength: Body and Mind: Even as an experienced hiker, this is a challenge that will push your limits and build your resilience.
-Be Part of Something Bigger: Walk, travel and stand shoulder to shoulder with other passionate fundraisers, united by a common purpose — to make a real difference.
What's involved
A professional guide will lead a small group of committed fundraisers up the highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Snowdon, across 24 hours over the weekend of 4th / 5th October 2025.
A minibus will be provided to transport the group between the mountains.
A registration fee of £80 will help cover the costs of Shelter running the event.
Each participant is required to raise £800. Your fundraising will help Shelter tackle homelessness around the UK.
As well as being guided on the day, you will be offered the opportunity to attend briefing calls with the guide in advance, an optional training walk and expert advice / support with your fundraising.
Please note: no refunds are available for this event.
Taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge is an incredible achievement - but it’s also a serious physical undertaking.
Over the course of 24 hours, you'll climb more than 3,000 metres, cover around 23 miles of rugged terrain, and spend long periods walking, climbing, and traveling with limited rest. The challenge pushes your stamina, strength, and mental resilience - especially in unpredictable weather and varying mountain conditions.
To take part safely and enjoyably, you'll need to be:
-Comfortable walking for several hours at a time, over steep, uneven ground
-Physically prepared for multiple ascents and descents, including hiking in the dark
-Able to recover quickly between climbs, with minimal sleep and time to rest
It’s not about being an athlete
You don’t need to be an ultra-marathon runner: but regular walking, strength training, and endurance exercises in the lead-up are non-negotiable. Fitness is key not only for your safety and success, but for the team’s momentum and morale.
