Brandon started his music career at 10 years old on a button accordion and worked his way to the title of Scottish Accordion Champion – one the youngest ever to do so at the age of 17 winning the Sir Jimmy Shand Shield.
Brandon McPhee's musical journey is a tapestry of remarkable achievements, underscored by a series of prestigious accolades and groundbreaking milestones. From securing consecutive first-place wins at the Caithness Music Festival to excelling across multiple categories at the Lairg Music Festival—including the under-13 Accordion Solo and Open Accordion competitions—Brandon’s early triumphs established the foundation for an extraordinary career. His virtuosity as an accordionist was cemented with victories at the Junior Scottish Accordion Championship and the Button Box Accordion Open Scottish Championship. At just 17 years old, Brandon made history by becoming the first button key accordion player in 27 years to claim the coveted Jimmy Shand Shield at the All Scotland Senior Traditional Accordion Solo Championship—a milestone that highlights his mastery and innovation in traditional music.
Beyond competitions, Brandon’s influence resonates throughout the music industry. His debut vocal single, Stand, achieved international acclaim, climbing to number 22 on the European Country Music Charts and earning widespread airplay on country music radio stations across the globe. His artistic excellence has been further recognized with nominations for honors such as CD of the Year and Up and Coming Artist of the Year. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Brandon has made significant contributions as a presenter on the Keep It Country channel, hosting the popular Caithness Music TV program. This role underscores his dual status as both a celebrated performer and a passionate ambassador for Scottish and country music traditions.
