In preparation for their third studio album, Nate Wooley’s Columbia Icefield quartet are hitting the road. The group features some of America’s strongest improvisational personalities including, Susan Alcorn on pedal steel guitar, Ava Mendoza on guitar, Ryan Sawyer on drums, and of course Nate himself on trumpet, working under the umbrella of Wooley’s unique compositional blend of minimalism, post-rock, ambient field recording, and hard noise to weave a group sound that is both glacial and dynamic, soft and strong, ancient and futuristic.

Formed in 2017, the Rob Clutton Trio features Karen Ng (reeds), Nick Fraser (drums) and Rob Clutton (bass, composition). The trio released Counsel of Primaries in April, 2020. In 2022 the trio performed in Berlin and Amsterdam. Asterballoo 22, the live recording from those shows has been released on Rat-drifting this year, and the trio is chuffed to celebrate its release with fellow rat-drifting artist Kurt Newman, who will join the trio on guitar for an improvised set. Newman’s Country Phasers recently released Cagey Doves, on the treasured Rat-drifting label.
