Nate Smith is a GRAMMY-nominated drummer, composer, producer, and bandleader celebrated for his versatility across jazz, R&B, funk, and pop. A musical force since his early 20s—when he performed with jazz icon Betty Carter—Smith has toured with Dave Holland, collaborated with artists like Brittany Howard, Childish Gambino, Norah Jones, Vulfpeck, and Pat Metheny, and provided the backbeat for Late Night with Seth Meyers.
As a solo artist, Smith leads the acclaimed band KINFOLK and earned two GRAMMY nominations for Postcards from Everywhere (2017). His Pocket Change series and viral drum videos have made him a widely followed educator and rhythmic innovator.
His latest project, LIVE ACTION, brings together top-tier collaborators like Lalah Hathaway, Charlie Hunter, and CARRTOONS, capturing the raw feel of analog recording and live performance. Whether behind the kit or behind the scenes, Nate Smith continues to redefine modern drumming and remains one of the most sought-after musicians of his generation.
