Join us for a truly spectacular mountain experience: an early morning traverse of the magnificent **Nantlle Ridge** (Crib Nantlle). Starting in the cool predawn darkness, we will start walking to hit the ridge just in time to witness the sun rising over the iconic peaks of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and the Glyderau.
Renowned as one of Eyrir's (Snowdonia's) finest and less-crowded high-level walks, the Nantlle Ridge offers breathtaking 360-degree views, including the entire Snowdon massif, the Irish Sea, the Llŷn Peninsula, and Anglesey. This challenging hike combines exhilarating ridge walking with sections of easy Grade 1 scrambling, providing a rewarding and memorable day in the mountains.
Difficulty: - Hard Mountain Walk (Strenuous)
Distance: - Approx. 7-9 miles (11-14.5 km)
Duration - 6-8 hours (including breaks and enjoying the sunrise)
Terrain: - Steep ascents, rocky paths, exposed sections, and minor scrambling (optional bypass paths are available for most exposed sections).
What to Expect
1. We will begin our climb in the dark, using headtorches to ascend the first peak Y Garn, This early start ensures we are positioned perfectly for the main event.
2. Reaching the ridge crest just as the sky begins to lighten is a magical experience. Watch as the sun bathes the eastern peaks in gold, a view made even more spectacular from this quieter, western ridge.
3. We will cover up to six summits, including the prominent Mynydd Drws-y-Coed (where a short, fun scramble is encountered) and Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd (marked by its impressive obelisk).
4. Throughout the morning, we'll enjoy uninterrupted views that are amongst the best in North Wales.
