About this Event
Join us in the Edendale Library community room on Wednesday April 15th at 6 p.m. for Make Your Own Sensory Kit, a creativity and mental wellness workshop hosted by NAMI Glendale, led by Kaitlynn DeFreitas, an Advanced Behavior Technician with Autism Spectrum Therapies, and Lee MacNaughton, facilitator of NAMI Glendale’s LGBTQ+ Connections Support Group. All ages and backgrounds are welcome, LGBTQ+ individuals encouraged! We welcome everyone to learn ways of coping with stress and introduce yourself to NAMI’s LGBTQ+ programs.
Kaitlynn will guide participants in creating their own portable sensory kit, which can be accessed when you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed in order to calm yourself, to be able to continue pursuing your dreams and handling the tasks of daily life. Sensory kit items and small containers will be provided. Attendees can also create a thumbnail collage or sculpture or other tiny visual art piece to remind you of a good memory or of people who care about you. If you would like to bring a photo of someone in your life or a favorite place, or any small object that makes you feel good about yourself, please do! Bring a friend or make friends at the workshop, we hope you will join us!
The Edendale Library is at 2011 Sunset Blvd., but enter instead through the parking lot entrance on the Alvarado side.
