About this Event
NAC Artist Fellow Nathan Meltzer is winner of the 2023 Concert Artist Guild Competition, and a major prize winner at the 2022 Sibelius and Singapore International Violin Competitions, among others. He is establishing a holistic and multi-faceted career as both a soloist and chamber musician, with passions for both standard and contemporary repertoire. The program will feature the Mystery Sonatas composed circa 1676 by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. These virtuosic pieces feature rarely heard historical tunings (scordatura) from the Baroque era. Each Mystery sonata will be paired with a more modern work in standard tuning practice that serves as an exploration of the tonal world of the sonata. The performers will be alternating between both period and modern instruments.
