Experience the vibrant interplay of melody and rhythm as santoor maestro Satyendra Singh Solanki and tabla virtuoso Ramendra Singh Solanki create a spellbinding evening of Indian classical music, where strings and beats flow together in seamless harmony.
The shimmering cascade of the santoor and the intricate rhythmic language of the tabla come together in a concert that explores the interplay between melody and rhythm in Indian classical music. Conceived as ‘Naad Pravah – Resonance of Strings & Beats’, this performance presents both instruments as equal partners, creating a flowing stream of sound where resonance becomes a shared musical experience.
Santoor artist Satyendra Singh Solanki and tabla exponent Ramendra Singh Solanki guide the audience through the traditional structure of a Hindustani classical recital. The evening opens with a reflective alaap on the santoor, gradually unfolding the chosen raga before the tabla joins in a slow vilambit composition. As the performance progresses, the tempo rises through madhya laya and drut sections, marked by rhythmic improvisation, call-and-response passages, and energetic exchanges between the two instruments, culminating in a melodic dhun.
Both artists are top-grade performers for All India Radio and Doordarshan and hail from distinguished musical lineages. Satyendra trained under Pt. Omprakash Chourasiya and continues to study the dhrupad tradition with Padma Shri Pt. Umakant Gundecha and Pt. Ramakant Gundecha. Ramendra, a disciple of his father and guru Shri Ajay Singh Solanki of the Ajrara gharana, also received early guidance from Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan. Together, they bring melody, rhythm, and improvisation into a recital that celebrates the living flow, the pravah, of strings and beats.
